The largest show in the museum’s history, this exhibition will fill the Crocker’s galleries, courtyards and surrounding landscape with more than 1,000 life-size clay figures by Mexican artist Alejandro Santiago. After several years in France, Santiago returned to his hometown in Oaxaca to find his village decimated by immigration to the United States. The exodus was so profoundly moving that he sculpted in his uniquely expressive and powerful style the 2501 residents who left their town—and their way of life—behind.
