Day of the Dead Celebrated in Old Sacramento

Celebrate the annual Day of the Dead traditions with Souls of the City in Old Sacramento this October.  Special workshops and displays throughout the historic district and at the Sacramento History Museum allow you to learn more about this cultural tradition celebrated in cities around the world. You can experience the Altar and Velacion Ceremony, the altar installation plus the spectacular procession and Azteca Dance performances – the cultural traditions and celebrations your family will love.

Honoring Our Past Community Lecture - October 24

Join community members as they discuss the meaning and history of Dia De Los Muertos at the Sacramento History Museum.

Dia De Los Muertos Celebration - November 1

Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos in front of the Sacramento History Museum. There will be a procession and lighting of altar led by Kalpulli Maquilli Tonatiuh (Aztec Dancers), interactive community altars, pop up art exhibit, family activities, games, calavera face painting, vendors, and a music stage.
