About the Downtown Mural Project
This spring Downtown Sacramento will serve as a blank canvas for local artists with the launch of The Downtown Mural Project. The Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF) recently released a call for artists for murals on the vacant lot at the corner of 8th and K streets. Up to 14 mural designs by local artists will be selected and installed throughout the spring and summer months. Each artist selected for the project will receive a $250 grant. The Downtown Mural Project will be funded through private donations to the Downtown Sacramento Foundation. The Sacramento Downtown Plaza has pledged the first $2,500 donation to the project in The Kay district.
Artist proposals for The Downtown Mural Project are due by March 15. Project requirements are available online.
The Downtown Sacramento Foundation is a sister organization to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. This 501(c)3 organziation is dedicated to fostering civic pride through the improvement of the social and physical environment of Downtown.
