Westfield Downtown Plaza Ice Rink

This weekend marks our final weekend at Sacramento’s original outdoor ice rink. Celebrate the holiday weekend with us with extended hours on Monday, January 16 from 10 am – 10 pm. The Westfield Downtown Plaza Ice Rink is produced by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. For event details call 916-442-5563.

The 7,000  sq. ft. rink is open 7 days a week through January 16.  Located in the heart of Downtown Sacramento at St. Rose of Lima Park at 7th & K streets, the rink is the perfect holiday experience. It’s just a short stroll from light rail, Old Sacramento, the State Capitol, restaurants and the Westfield Downtown Plaza. Park at the Westfield Downtown Plaza and we’ll validate your parking.

Monday – Thursday: 2 pm – 8 pm
Friday – Saturday: 10 am – 10 pm
Sunday – 10 am – 8 pm

Holiday Hours (December 12 – 30)  – 10 am – 10 pm
New Years Eve & New Years Day  -  10 am – 6 pm -  10 am – 10 pm

Sessions:

• Skate sessions begin every 2 hours on the even numbered hour.
• Sessions are 1 hour & 45 minutes, and the ice is cleared 15 minutes prior to the next session for a Zamboni run.
• If you arrive after a session begins, you can still join the fun for the remainder of the session (2 hours is a long time to ice skate!) or choose to wait for the following session.

Admission
$8.00 – 2 hour session
$2.00 – skate rental
Children age 4 & under: Free admission, $2.00 skate rental.

Parking
Parking is conveniently located across the street at the Westfield Downtown Plaza garage. The ice rink offers parking validations for customers.

Weekly Events at the Ice Rink

• Family Night: Every Tuesday from 4-8 pm receive one free children’s admission with one paid adult admission. Skate rentals for everyone are $0.96.
  
• Twitpic Thursdays: Follow @DowntownIceRink on twitter and post a photo and receive one free skate rental.

Special Events at the Ice Rink*

• November 4 – Grand Opening Day: Celebrate the start of our 20th season with us and receive free admission all day from Noon – 10 pm.
• November 11 – Veterans Day: In honor all those who have served our country, service members receive a free skate rental with valid government issued ID.
• November 12 – Cars on K: After 42 years, cars on K Street are finally back. Take drive down K and visit the ice rink that day between 4-10 pm and you’ll receive a free skate rental.
• November 12 – Community Shopping Day: Purchase a community shopping day pass at Macy’s Downtown Plaza and receive free admission.
• November 16 – Gay Skate Night: Join Outword Magazine from 7-9 pm for Drag Queens on Ice. Proceeds from this skating session will be donated to the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center, CGNIE, NorCal Aids Cycle.
• November 17 – I love the ’90s: Pull out your old flannel and docs or rock the Rachel ‘do like it’s 1995. Our DJ will be spinning the top tracks from the 90′s. Don’t forget to snap a twitpic of you in your grunge gear for a free skate rental.
  
• November 19 – Yule Logs: Get into the holiday spirit with a live performance by the Yule Logs the hardest working band in “snow” business.
• November 25 – Black Friday: Get your holiday shopping done and treat the family to an afternoon at the rink with a free skate rental.
• November 30 – Angels for Hearts Charity Day: Have a heart this holiday season and help raise awareness for this charity dedicated to caring for pediatric heart patients. Proceeds from the 6-8 pm session will benefit Angels for Hearts.
• December 1 – Disco Night: Skate to your favorite funky disco beats from Donna Summer and The Bee Gees to Gloria Gaynor and The Village People. Don’t forget to snap a twitpic of you in your best disco gear for a free skate rental.
• December 3 – Make a Wish: Macy’s at the Downtown Plaza is hosting a private skating party for Make a Wish Families and Children. The ice rink will be closed from 10 am – noon for this private skating session with Make A Wish Foundation..
• December 10 – Sac365.com Day: The first 50 skaters to visit the ice rink will receive a special gift courtesy of Sacramento365.com, your year round source for Sacramento events.
• December 19-December 23 – Westfield Week: Tick Tock. Tick Tock. Pick up those last minute holiday gifts at the Westfield Downtown Plaza. Show us your receipt of purchase and you’ll receive a free skate rental.
• December 22 – Ugly Sweater Day: Dust off your best reindeer jumper or your favorite Cosby sweater and head to the ice rink. Don’t forget to snap a twitpic of yourself at the rink for a free skate rental.
• December 29 – I love the ’80s: We pity the foo’ who misses out on our ’80′s party at the ice rink. Our DJ will be spinning tunes from the ’80s from Run DMC and Michael Jackson to Cindi Lauper and Debbie Gibson. Don’t forget to snap a twitpic of you in your ’80s throwback gear for a free skate rental.
• January 5 – Luau: Sure there’s a chill in the air, but that won’t stop us from turning the rink into an (ice) island paradise. Don’t forget to snap a twitpic of you in your lei and hula skirt for a free skate rental.
• January 16 – Final Day of the Season: All good things must come to an end. So bust out the legwarmers one last time and join as we close out the final day of our 20th season.
