With a dual perspective as an entrepreneur and elected official, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom will discuss his experience in developing public-private partnerships, redefining current policy practices, and fostering collaboration and innovation to stimulate economic growth in a community.
This year, the State of Downtown will focus on moving Sacramento forward and encouraging economic development with creative solutions beyond redevelopment. Over the past year, local Sacramento leaders have developed various economic development strategies for the region. One common thread has been to identify opportunities for the public sector to streamline the process thereby encouraging business growth. Other strategies focus on job creation, public-private partnerships, small business growth, and cultivating a community that is attractive to entrepreneurs and strategic business clusters.
“Downtown is at a tipping point and many of our long-term goals have been accomplished,” said DSP Executive Director Michael Ault. “Now is the time to renew our focus on creative economic development strategies and partnerships between the private and public sectors. This way, we will ensure sustainable growth and viability in Sacramento’s downtown core for years to come.”
