The Issue:
In effort to revitalize K Street, the City of Sacramento will return two-way, low volume, low speed traffic to four blocks on K Street between 8th to 12th streets.
The initial four-block project will be funded through a reallocation of approximately $1.9 million in Economic Development Capitol Improvement Program Transportation Funds, and $800,000 from the Central City Two Way Conversion Project for the design, staff costs, and construction of the initial phase. The funding will cover mostly signage and signaling and will not include significant hardscape and streetscape improvements.
DSP Position:
The DSP Board of Directors fully supports the staff recommendation (including the reallocation of $2.7 million from a transportation Capital Improvement Project) to reintroduce cars to K Street in an initial phase between 8th and 12th streets.
