Theatre of Lights and Holiday Tree Lighting: Sacramento’s Must-See Holiday Traditions
The Old Sacramento Waterfront transforms into a winter wonderland this holiday season, blending historic charm with festive enchantment. A beloved Sacramento tradition, the Theatre of Lights, returns for its 16th year with a performance narrated by Emmy-nominated voice actor Bill Farmer, best known as the voice of Disney’s Goofy, that brings the magic of The Night Before Christmas and tales of Sacramento’s pioneer days to life. Adding to the excitement, join us for the dazzling Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, November 27 at 5:00 PM.
A Tree Lighting Ceremony Like No Other
Join the community as the 60-foot holiday tree, adorned with nearly 24,000 lights, 550 icicles, and 400 strobes, is lit in a grand celebration powered by SMUD. Starting at 5:00 PM, enjoy performances by local favorites such as the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus and Sac Dance Lab, alongside appearances by elected officials. The tree lighting at 6:00 PM sets the stage for the first Theatre of Lights show of the season at 6:20 PM.
