2015 Calling All Dreamers winner, Heather Wong of Allspicery, is one such entrepreneur about to join downtown’s eclectic small business community. As grand prize winner, Allspicery received a business start-up package from the DSF valued at $100,000 that included a suite of business resources and assistance in securing a downtown storefront at 1125 11th Street with 6 months of free rent!

As Sacramento’s first and only one-stop spice shop, Allspicery will offer a curated selection of over 200 ethnic spices, salt rubs, teas, and proprietary house-made spice blends sourced from around the world.

Color-filled bottles will line store shelves as customers will be able to peruse commonplace spices as well as obscure, hard-to-find ingredients like kaffir lime leaves, urfa biber Turkish pepper or Eastern Mediterranean za’atar. Spices will be available to taste and will be sold whole or freshly ground in-house, making the shop a veritable candy store for foodies, home cooks and area chefs looking for key ingredients.

The 2016 Calling All Dreamers business competition is currently underway as local entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit proposals for downtown business concepts before March 29, 2016 at 5 p.m. After a review process and public voting period, the 2016 Calling All Dreamers winner will be announced in June 2016 and downtown Sacramento will celebrate yet another entrepreneurial success story!
