Every month, we have four featured storytellers tell a true tale based on a prompt. This month's prompt is “unwritten rules.”
Our featured storytellers for March are:
Don Reed is an award-winning storyteller, host, & creator of REDWOOD NIGHTS: Storytelling Under the Stars. His solo storytelling shows have won and been nominated for multiple Theatre Bay Area, Off-Broadway NY, and NAACP Awards. Most recently, Reed was triple nominated for the 2024 BroadwayWorld San Francisco Bay Area Awards for Best Solo Performance/Best Play/Best Director.
Diana Medina is a proud Mexican American writer, poet, performer, and Storyteller in Residence at Capital Storytelling, where she helps bring the practice of oral storytelling to immigrant communities. Her work and stories have been featured in The Moth, Modern Latina Magazine, The Risk Podcast, First Person Story, Redwood Nights, and more. She lives in Oakland with her chihuahua, Kika, and is working on her third book, set for release in late 2025.
Turner Sparks is a Sacramento native based in Brooklyn who has performed in 15 countries and become a premier comedic storyteller with stories that are clean, apolitical by design, global in perspective, and brutally honest by nature. Or, as Sparks puts it, “No matter where you are from or what you believe, I guarantee you will think I’m an idiot.”
Amy Bee is a writer and book editor who has failed at hiking the complete Pacific Crest Trail three times. She's hoping for a fourth, fingers crossed. Amy's had her short-form memoir stories published at Salon, Ozy, Atticus, and New Ohio Review, among other pretty cool places, and she's won a few NF contests and earned a few shortlists. She's also the co-creator of In a Nutshell Storytelling and every day forgives her husband for his ska-loving ways.
COME BE ENTERTAINED, HUMANS!
