The business competition is heating up – we’ve narrowed it down to 5 Finalists: The Dog Society, Gaucho Garcia, Milk & Sugar – Fresh Rolled Ice Cream, Oblivion Comics & Coffee, and Studio Fig.

Advancing to the next round of the competition, these 5 aspiring entrepreneurs are vying to open a downtown storefront and win a start-up incentive package valued at approximately $110,000.

Which business do you want to see downtown? Watch the Finalists’ pitch videos and vote online for your favorite concept by May 31. The Grand Prize Winner winner will be announced in June and will open their downtown storefront in November.

Calling All Dreamers is retail business plan competition produced by the Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF).

Our goal is simple. We want to foster Sacramento’s entrepreneurial spirit and cultivate the next generation of dreamers in Downtown Sacramento. The Shark Tank-style competition encourages entrepreneurs to compete for the chance to open a downtown storefront and earn a coveted business start-up package with essential resources and tools to turn their dream into reality.

Since the inaugural Calling All Dreamers competition in 2013, the DSF has helped 11 new businesses open in downtown Sacramento. In all, they have leased over 15,000 sf of retail space and created 10 full-time and 35-part-time jobs. New businesses include Andy’s Candy ApothecaryThe Dailey Method, Ana Apple, Allspicery, Figs and FetaSun & SoilOff the Chain Bike Bus Tours, Metro Juice, Benjamin’s Shoes, The Workspace: Fashion Incubator, and Whired Wine.

Meet the Finalists

The Calling All Dreamers competition received 33 business concepts – and we’ve narrowed it down to six finalists: Figs & Feta, Fit Face, Karma To Go, Persu Collection Studio, Sacramento Spice Station and The Workspace. Watch the finalists’ videos below.

Prize Package

The winner will receive a business start-up package valued at $100,000, which includes a cash prize of $10,000—plus up to six months of free rent, and a suite of business services.
