And the 2015 Calling All Dreamers Winner is…
Heather Wong, Spice Station Sacramento
Congratulations to Heather Wong, owner of Spice Station Sacramento and first time entrepreneur. As grand prize winner, Spice Station Sacramento, will receive a business start up package valued at $100,000. The Spice Station will be the first one-stop spice shop in Sacramento, offering a curated selection of spices, salts, teas, and proprietary house-made spice blends sourced from around the world. The shop will offer commonplace spices as well as obscure, hard-to-find ingredients. Spices will be sold whole or freshly ground in-house, making the shop a veritable candy store for foodies.
Calling All Dreamers is retail business plan competition produced by the Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF).
Our goal is simple. We want to foster Sacramento’s entrepreneurial spirit and cultivate the next generation of dreamers in downtown Sacramento. We know running a small business isn’t easy. So, we’re here to help. The winner of this competition will have the chance to open a downtown storefront, earn a business start-up package valued at approximately $100,000.
Since the inaugural Calling All Dreamers competition launched in 2013, 8 of the 10 competition finalists have jump-started their businesses in the urban core including Andy’s Candy Apothecary, The Dailey Method, Ana Apple, Sun & Soil, South, Off the Chain Bike Bus Tours, Metro Juice, and Benjamin’s Shoes
The winner will receive a business start-up package valued at $100,000, which includes a cash prize of $10,000—plus up to six months of free rent, and a suite of business services. Click here to see the 2015 prize package.
